Following the recent trend of obsolete I.T. equipment of special interest to vintage computer and game machine fans I present this Interlink Durapoint mouse for your delight and delectation.
The term "mouse" is being used here in the loosest of meanings, the cursor is moved by a raised rubber button, much like a jumbo version of the TrackPoint button found on Leonovo ThinkPads and some of the classic Toshiba business laptops.
Framed in durable stainless steel, with a weighted base, it is the HumVee of the mouse World. It has a captive cable with a 9 way D-type Serial connection, but comes with a handy ps/2 adapter and a Belkin USB adapter. These units have been used with a variety of legacy operating systems; Win 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista and 7. The Belkin adapter will work with most modern equipment, normally no drivers are required.
It is the perfect item if you want to create a kiosk computer for use in exhibitions, or any other situation where the equipment is accessible to the public in an unsupervised situation. It could also could be a useful way to integrate computers in a chemically aggressive environment, such as garages and workshops. Perfect, in fact, for anyone needing a bullet proof mouse for their CAM setup in a dusty or oily environment.
Here's what Interlink sais about the Durapoint Rugged mouse.
These units cost over £200 when last available in the UK, the current asking price is £29, a fraction of the original cost, for a designer item in near mint condition, the price even includes delivery within the UK. I can send to some European locations too, but please ask for a quote first as this could be quite a high sum.

THE TOUGHEST MOUSE IN THE WORLD! Drive a truck over it. Throw it off a building. Or just use it 24/7 in your process control operations or on your manufacturing floor. DuraPoint dominates. It has no moving parts (nothing to clog up or break) and is maintenance-free. It's also environmentally sealed, waterproof and impervious to atmospheric contaminants, vibration, sound waves and physical shock. DuraPoint is available in both stand-alone and console mountable versions.
DuraPoint is suitable for hazardous area usage, class 1 division 2, groups A, B, C and D. It is designed to meet NEMA 4X, 6P, 12 and 13 standards.
